The Detroit Red Wings will face yet another Original Six rival, as they shoot for a third straight win in tonights road test against the Montreal Canadiens. You can listen to the game on TSN Radio 690 Montreal, with coverage beginning at 6pm et. Four of Detroits five games this season have been against fellow Original Six clubs, with a loss on Oct. 11 against the Anaheim Ducks standing as the lone exception. After sweeping a home-and-home series against the Toronto Maple Leafs this weekend, the Red Wings improved to 3-1-1 on the season. Detroit boasts a 3-0-1 mark against the original NHL franchises, and the club will have Pavel Datsyuk in the lineup tonight to help chase another win in Montreal. Datsyuk has been sidelined since suffering a separated shoulder in an exhibition game on Sept. 22, but he could make his season debut on Tuesday. Last season, Datsyuk posted 17 goals and 20 assists despite playing in only 45 games due to various injuries. The Russian star was cleared ahead of tonights tilt, however, Red Wings forward Johan Franzen is not expected to return Tuesday after sitting out the last game with a lower-body injury. Henrik Zetterberg played a big role in the two-game sweep of the Maple Leafs. The Swedish star posted four assists in Fridays 4-1 triumph in Toronto and recorded the game-winning goal with 10 seconds left in overtime to lead his club to a 1-0 decision in the rematch. Zetterberg took a crisp cross-ice pass from Niklas Kronwall in the slot and slapped a shot off the right post past Jonathan Bernier to record the only goal in Saturdays game at Joe Louis Arena. It was a hard-fought game for both teams, said Zetterberg. Goaltending was really good on both sides. Jonas Gustavsson posted a 30-save shutout in his first start of the season in place of starter Jimmy Howard, who was unavailable due to a sore groin. Peter Mrazek served as the backup on Saturday, but Howard expects to return to the starting role tonight with Gustavsson behind him. Mrazek was reassigned to Grand Rapids of the AHL on Monday. The Canadiens also will shoot for a third straight victory tonight after downing Boston and Colorado in their most recent outings. Montreal is 5-1-0 this season after making a surprise run to the Eastern Conference finals last spring. Montreal recorded a 3-2 win over the visiting Avalanche on Saturday, as P.K. Subban scored twice and Carey Price stood tall with 32 saves. The Habs, who also received a goal from Alex Galchenyuk, improved to 2-0 at the Bell Centre this season. The Canadiens scored all three of their goals Saturday in the second period. Subban tied the game with a power-play tally at the 4:13 mark before Galchenyuk scored to make it 2-1 around the midway point of the stanza. Subbans third marker of the season came with just over two minutes left in the period and would stand as the eventual game-winner. Montreal won the final two games against the Red Wings in 2013-14 to earn a split in the season series. The Canadiens have taken three of the last five encounters overall and two of the past three meetings at the Bell Centre. Howard hit a three-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Philadelphia Phillies to a 6-3 win over the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday night.CINCINNATI, Ohio -- It was a long time coming, but Alfredo Simon got his first win of the second half Simon pitched seven strong innings to earn his first win in eight starts since the All-Star break and Todd Frazier homered as the Cincinnati Reds held on for a 5-3 win over the Atlanta Braves on Sunday. Simon (13-8), who was 0-5 since pitching in the All-Star Game, opened with six shutout innings before yielding a run in the seventh. He allowed five hits with one walk and six strikeouts over seven innings. "Simon was ahead in the count and was able to use his whole complement of pitches," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "There are times when a pitcher is throwing with the same velocity but it doesnt feel like it. He tries to manufacture more. Today, he just executed his pitches." Simon decided that location was more important and made the adjustment. "I knew I had to keep the ball down and that was big for me," Simon said. Manny Parra and Jumbo Diaz pitched the eighth. Logan Ondrusek allowed Evan Gattiss 20th homer leading off the ninth and Jonathan Broxton gave up Jason Heywards RBI single before coaxing Justin Upton into grounding into a base-loaded forceout for his seventh save for the Reds, who salvaged a split of the four-game series after dropping the first two games. The Reds have won back-to-back games for the first time since winning three straight against Cleveland August 5-7. The Braves hadnt lost two straight games since Aug. 11-12 against the Dodgers. "You dont turn your nose up at any win," Price said. "We played good baseball the first seven innings. We need to focus on playing good baseball the rest of the season. What happens, happens." The Reds strung together five hits -- as many as they totalled in their 1-0 win on Saturday -- and scored three runs -- one more than their combined total in their previous three games -- to break up a scoreless tie in the fourth. After Ryan Ludwick came up with a bases-loaded sacrifice fly, Brayan Pena and Zack Cozart added RBI singles while sending Aaron Harang to his first loss in four career starts against his former team.dddddddddddd Jay Bruces single in the inning was a ground ball that Freddie Freeman fielded but firstbase was not covered. "Something as small as covering first base, which Ive done thousands of times in my career," Harang said. "The one time I dont do it, the inning unravels. If I cover first, the next guy flies out to right field and the innings over." UP NEXT Braves: After Atlantas day off on Monday, LHP Alex Wood makes his second start of the season against the Mets in the opener of a three-game series at New York. Reds: After Cincinnatis day off on Monday, RHP Johnny Cueto starts against the Cubs on Tuesday trying to get back on track after seeing a personal seven-game winning streak snapped at St. Louis on Wednesday. TRAINERS ROOM Braves: SS Andrelton Simmons didnt start on Sunday as manager Fredi Gonzalez kept his promise to give a regular the day off, which will mean two days of rest for Simmons with Mondays break in the schedule. Reds: RHP Homer Bailey, on the disabled list since August 16 with a strained right forearm, has increased his exercise program, but he has not resumed throwing, manager Bryan Price said. "Theres been improvement from where he was," Price said. ITS A HIT The Reds had five hits in the fourth inning off Aaron Harang. The Reds has a total of 12 hits in the first three games of the series and no more than five in any of them.
