DENVER -- Chris Owings has been in a little bit of an offensive funk. Leave it to hitting friendly Coors Field to snap him right out of it. Leave it to this park to get the entire Arizona lineup revved up. Owings, Paul Goldschmidt and Miguel Montero homered as the Diamondbacks reached double-digits against the Colorado Rockies again, completing a sweep with a 12-7 win Thursday night. Arizona took all three games at Coors Field for the first time since April 2008. This series was quite an offensive display by the Diamondbacks, too, as they scored 32 runs and collected 48 hits over the three games. "(This) happens every other week here, doesnt it?" Bronson Arroyo said. "Doesnt usually happen to those guys, though. We just happened to put all the runs on the board this time." Even Arroyo (5-4) pitched differently in this park. He went with fastballs 60 per cent of the time -- something the 37-year-old usually doesnt do. But hey, this quirky park sometimes calls for an unorthodox approach. "I threw an offbeat game," said Arroyo, who allowed four runs and six hits in 6 1-3 innings. The Rockies were once again off their game as they lost their seventh straight. Its their longest skid since losing nine in a row late in the 2012 season. "We come to play every single day," said Troy Tulowitzki, who had a homer and a double. "Its just not happening right now. A night after the Diamondbacks put up 16 runs, they pounded Rockies starter Juan Nicasio (5-4). The right-hander struggled with his command, allowing a season-high seven runs in 5 1-3 innings. Manager Walt Weiss called a team meeting before the game, just so he could check in with his team during this horrendous stretch. He said there are "no magic words in this game or magic words for success." Is this rock bottom? "I dont know," Weiss said. "We have a game tomorrow. Well try to win a game tomorrow." The top five hitters in the Diamondbacks lineup -- Gerardo Parra, Owings, Goldschmidt, Montero and Martin Prado -- feasted on Rockies pitching, going a combined 13 for 24 with nine RBIs. "I know weve got a good hitting ball club. I know that," Montero said. "We showed it the last couple of games." Did they ever. According to the Diamondbacks, its just the second time the team has had back-to-back games with 18 or more hits. Its only the fifth time theyve scored 12 or more runs in two straight. "You hear stuff about Coors Field coming up through the minors leagues," said Owings, who finished 3 for 5 with four RBIs. "You watch a lot of games here, see a lot of runs scored. But I wouldnt say that plays into anything you do differently here. You hit the ball hard. "The ball might do some different things here." Owings had a two-run homer in the eighth that gave Arizona a 9-6 lead. The cushion was valuable at the time as Rockies pinch hitter Brandon Barnes hit an inside-the-park homer in the bottom of the inning, when the ball sailed over the head of centre fielder Ender Inciarte, hit off the base of the wall and caromed away. It was the 14th inside-the-park homer in Rockies history and first since Eric Young Jr. had one on Aug. 8, 2012, in Los Angeles. Arizona added to its lead in the ninth with three more runs. Inciarte ended the game by making a leaping catch at the wall on Wilin Rosarios deep drive. Arroyo had a 7-3 lead heading into the seventh inning, when he ran into trouble. A usually reliable bullpen struggled, too. The Rockies scored three times on RBI singles from Drew Stubbs, Michael Cuddyer and Corey Dickerson. With the bases loaded and two outs, Oliver Perez was brought in to face pinch hitter Justin Morneau, who grounded out to third to end the rally. "That was huge," Arroyo said. "He came in and gave us that one out we needed and really broke the game open for us." Two plays into the game, he was already in the Buckeyes record book. Guiton threw three of his four touchdown passes in the first six minutes, including a school-record 90-yarder to start the onslaught, and No. 4 Ohio State rolled to its 15th straight victory, 52-34 over California on Saturday night. "Thats pretty cool," Guiton said. "Im in my fifth year, getting my first start. Its a blessing." Guiton got the start in place of injured Braxton Miller and there was no drop-off in performance for the Buckeyes (3-0). He connected with Devin Smith on the deep ball on Ohio States second offensive play -- the longest from scrimmage in school history. He added a 47-yard touchdown to Smith and a 1-yarder to Chris Fields on fourth-and-goal as Ohio State jumped out to a 21-0 lead over the Golden Bears (1-2) less than halfway through the first quarter. Guiton completed 21 of 32 passes for 276 yards and added 92 yards rushing to lead the Buckeyes. "Hes a very good distributor," coach Urban Meyer said. "He gets the ball to the right people at the right time. What I was more impressed with with him were the downfield throws. Those were right on the dot, a few of them, and Devin Smith made some excellent catches." Jordan Hall added 168 yards on the ground and three touchdowns as Ohio State extended the longest winning streak in major college football by outgunning the Bears in a high-paced offensive game. With both teams running no-huddle offences for much of the game, the defences were scrambling as the teams combined for 86 points, 11 touchdowns and 1,111 total yards on 177 plays. Cals prolific freshman quarterback Jared Goff just missed his third straight 400-yard game to begin his career, going 31 for 53 for 371 yards with three touchdowns. But he also lost a fumble and threw an interception in the first quarter to put the Bears in an early hole they could never escape. "I felt like we had a good chance to make some plays early on," Goff said. "We kind of fell behind the eight ball there going down 21-0. That kind of hurt. But I was proud oof the way we fought back.dddddddddddd We never quit." Goff got little help from the running game or defence. Brendan Bigelow, who rushed for 160 yards and two touchdowns on four carries last year against Ohio State was held to 39 yards on 11 carries in the rematch. Cals injury-ravaged defence has allowed at least 500 yards every game this season under first-year coach Sonny Dykes and even the opportunity to face a backup quarterback in Guiton couldnt change that pattern. "I dont think were that far off," Dykes said. "Were a very young football team. If you just compare the roster in terms of starters, I think we had two seniors that started for us today. I think they had like 14, 15. Thats a big difference. We just got to group up. Weve got to improve. That falls on us as coaches to coach better and bring our players along and put them in a good position to be successful." Guiton had thrown just 26 career passes before stepping in during the first quarter last week against San Diego State when Miller left with a sprained left knee. Miller practiced sparingly this week but was unable to play in the game, giving Guiton his long-awaited shot as a starter. He was ready and on his second play found Smith behind safety Damariay Drew for the 90-yard play that delighted the thousands of scarlet-clad fans who made up nearly half of the crowd at Memorial Stadium. "Devin has world-class speed," Guiton said. "Sending him on deep routes in man coverage, were going to try to exploit that. I saw him beat his man and I tried to lay it up for him. He ran under it and he can do the rest." That started an action-packed opening quarter that featured 38 points, three turnovers and 445 yards of offence between the two teams. Despite that fast start, the Buckeyes only led 31-20 at the half as Goff threw a pair of TD passes and Dykes pulled out all the stops. On fourth-and-8 late in the half, Dykes appeared to send the punting unit out. But Goff, who wears the same number as punter Cole Leininger, lined up in punt formation and threw an 11-yard pass to Stefan McClure that set up Vincenzo DAmatos 43-yard field goal on the final play of the half.
